One down eleven more to go

One month in everything going according to plan, syukur. Hopefully after the chinese new year, will start out with the business. A slight change of plans though, instead of going big gonna start small, will get there slowly but surely, god willing. Havent delibrately miss any solat, staying and spending more time at home, been spending time with other friends i havent reconnect with for quite sometime.

Health wise been keeping off certain food and trying to eat moderately nowadays. Havent got down to keeping my regular routine of jogging in kiara park every morning. Guess its the odd hours i been keeping. Trying to not miss subuh, will stay up into the wee hours of the morning planning and doing some stuff burning the midnight oil, but after subuh will most definitely be flat out. Im not getting enough sleeping hours. Guess thats one thing i gotta change.

Let see what the chinese new year will bring this year and im hoping a prosperous one too ;)

Its sunday already!?

Had a bad case of the sneezle my nizzle, for shizzle! and its friday nite damn damn double damn. Was sneezing thruout the whole nite i cant sleep. Tried to sleep in early so i wont miss subuh the next day but nooooo, was in bed sneezing away by the time i knew it syamael called me at 9am asking if i can come out and play.

Had a pick me up at Restoren Ismail in TTDI, a dose of coffee, eggs and roti canai does wonders. Then off to SS2 for a round of gaming with syam. Hung out with him till 7pm, by 4 or 5 i was walking around like the living dead. Dinner in uptown with syam, had pirates (if u ever in uptown go ask for the pirate sauce) and once i got back home i knew i cant go to sleep yet until i've done isya' or else i'll definitely miss it. But unfortunately i did miss zohor that day, damn. (ghalit dok main game :p).

But come 9pm, gosh my bed was as inviting as it never been. The pillow was softer, the bed was 'empuk'er and the bantal busuk gosh the bantal peluk 'wangi'er :p and more huggable, drifted off to sleep in seconds. And sure enough 6am i woke up feeling refresh ready to start the day. Went to UM to go to a preview and came back started chatting with my madu. Having a great day actually and still thinking that today is saturday when she pointed out that today is sunday.

Although i didnt actually miss saturday was out and about the good part of the day just that the lack of one nite sleep made me think this morning i was waking up to a saturday. Well here's hoping that i wont miss any day next week.

New Year, New Decade? New Resolution = same result?

Its been awhile since I've visited this lil corner of the web. Obviously I failed the 365 day challenge. First off, Thanks jatt for not following thru with the bet hehehe...I mean who am I kidding, me writing religiously one post every day? Righttttt...

Pre new year and post new year was awesome. Had a makan trip up north to Penang. Started on a sunday the 27th December stayed in Penang till the 31st and we made our way to Sungai Petani to visit Sue's (my cousin Che Mad's wife) godmother. Coming back to KL we decided to drop by lumut and stay in Pangkor for two nights, but alas the place deteriorated so we cut short to one night. Made our way down to Ipoh for some food and then back to KL on saturday 2nd January.

Its already 2 weeks into 2010, ppl been saying its a new decade, hmmmm....if year 2000 - 2009 is one decade, then the 1st decade is year 0 - year 9? Just saying :D. Anyways new year new reso right. Got a few on my list but the utmost important ones are working out my relationship with Him (trying to keep my solat but keep on failing to do my Subuh prayers) Not proud to admit it, but Im really that bad, sometimes its only once a week on fridays and during Eid.

The next one is my relationship with family 1st and then friends. Been keeping to myself and spending more time outside or to myself. Must spend more time with parents and siblings. With my cousins, uncles and aunts...been trying to avoid family gathering. Neglected some friends and havent spend any time with some old friends. Kinda miss em already.

3rd focusing on work and health. Trying to start this year on building my own business and my career. And of course getting rid of those excess pounds and keeping them off. Need to get rid alot some of my bad habit.

Well its too soon to tell but its been a great start. Let see if I can keep this momentum going. ;)

Hiatus

Something went terribly wrong with my blogspot. I cudnt see any of my published post and the new ones i saved as draft in my edit page. Havent resolved yet the timestamp problem will get back to that when i feel like it ASAP.

Meanwhile i'm gonna continue on with my meandering post. Its not brilliant, its not thought provoking, its not grown-uppish. But as the title suggest, its my mental diarrhea. i write what i feel and i feel what i write (cewahhh).

Whatever i spew forth from my mind, and the lot of u who is unfortunate enough to stumble onto my blog and im wondering why still reading thru, pls accept my apologies for my banality and for wasting ur time hehe.

the attention whore in me though do appreciate u coming here to read my blog and wud like to thank you for stopping by. Yeah, i've said it. Im a bit of an attention whore. Lets face it, im putting on the net for anybody to read bout what i feel and what i do even the most mundane cos i want some attention.

Cos lets face it there's a lil bit of an attention whore in everybody that has a blog or a vblog. Right? ;)

Sleepless in Damansara Utama

Its almost 5am and im not sleepy yet. Tossed and turned, drank warm milk, tried reading something very dry and factual nothing worked. Being in front of the lap top isnt helping my cause as well. Not that i got insomniac, its just that i got a lot on my mind off late and its work related.

Talking bout cant sleep theres this french movie Narco (2004) its about a guy who has something the opposite of insomniac, which is narcolepsy hence the title. He falls asleep anywhere, anytime and when he does fall asleep he dreams. And the stuff he dreams about he writes it in comic book. Reading the sysnopsis about this film i betcha its as magical and as wonderful as Amelie. Gonna try to find that DVD but not sure bout our local pirates taste in foreign film.

there's something about european movies that really attract me. even though i dont understand what they say and i hafta rely on the subtitle which will ruin the movie watching experience. am anal about watching movies, i like to absorb whatever is on screen i really really hate it if i hafta talk while watching in a cinema, eating during the movie (dont mind drinking though), the mister/miss i-cant-help-keeping-my-long-legs-from-bumping-the-back-of-ur-chair, big ass subtitles covering half of the screen.

Theirs are wonderfully made. Superb cameraworks, stupendous storytelling, beautifully executed, uh not forgetting the sexy accent of their oh so beautiful actress hoho that one always kills me. Kinda wish we had one of those theater that only play european movies here. At least i have the option since hollywood is spewing out crap lately with only two movies i've been waiting for this summer Watchmen and Star Trek. Here's hoping to me sleeping soon enuff and dreaming an epic adventure, been awhile since i had one of those...

Island getaway

Times like these i wish i was in an island somewhere running my shack selling pizzas, snacks and then some by the beach. During the night having campfire with the tourists and the locals. During the daytime just hang out read a book watching/oogling at the "scenery" ;p

Man i miss being at the beach. Mayhap getting that morning run by the beach that i so desperately in need of(cewahhhh). Lacking exercise havent been to the gym or getting any form of exercise lately. My six pac is turning into a six in one, but who wants a six pack when u can go for the whole barrel right? (righttttt...as if i got a six pac to begin with)

Lying on a hammock, my favourite cold drink by the side, got a good book to read, the sound of waves hitting the beach and a gentle breeze swaying me lulling me to sleep...gosh i need to get away to an island somewhere and fast

Enjoy the soothing sound of brudah Iz@Israel "IZ" kamakawiwo'ole (yeah his name is a mouthful)...first heard him from watching finding forrester before the ending credit rolls up.

I miss one more day

I missed yet another day...well time flies and the next thing i know its another day. And im pressed for ideas on what to write for my next entry, heck i havent even figured what to write for this entry. Cant even take a breather to stop and smell the roses. Everything is so fast paced that if u blink u might miss something.

Since i havent a clue on what to post for todays entry im cheating again here and putting up what my cousin had on his notes in fb. A cut and paste job again but i like the msg. Its simple but yet very thought provoking. What have u been missing?

First published on Sunday Star, 11th January 2009 (sent in via email by Benedict Lee); reproduced online for your reading pleasure.

A man sat at a Metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning.

He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was music being played. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, then hurried off to keep up his appointed schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in his till and continued to walk on.

A few minutes later, a man leaned against the wall to listen to the violinist, but he looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The only one who paid the most attention was a three-year old boy. His mother tagged him along, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head back from time to time to glance back to the alluring music.

This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only six people stopped and stayed for awhile. About 20 people gave him money but continued to walk on at their normal pace. He collected US$32 in total. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this but the violinist was actually Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. That day in the subway, he played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth US$3.5 million. Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats were US$100 each on average.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the Metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and priorities of people.

The brief were; in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

My 3 day weekend

Been a very busy weekend for me. Best part it was a public holiday on monday a 3 day weekend. Its the birthday of our prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and i was stuck at the office thruout saturday till monday. Well after work some of my childhood buddies decided to give me a call just now saying that they wanna hang out in uptown. Been awhile since i last saw em so i decided to pack my stuff and rush back home, could pick up on things the next day.

Met up with Firhan, Syamael and Umar with his significant other Awin. I knew these guys since i was in primary, basically grew up with em. Chit-chatting, catching up, reminiscing, talking bout the good old days...But i was kinda stumped on the baby talk though. Which bottle with vents, no vents(they have that kinda bottle?), which remedy is good for colic, waking up at nite changing the diapers and feeding, well u get the picture.

But it was fun, took my mind away from the pressing matter at work today. U could say the shit hit the fan and we are left to clean up the mess in the room. Well c'est la vie...U gotta do what u gotta do till the next entry

p/s: i lost another day again damnit!!! the rate im going i'm gonna lose the challenge after all. Motherfather!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who watches the Watchmen

Finally!!! after all these years reading it, rereading it again...trying to get and understand the story behind the story, studying it panel by panel, i get to see it on film. Zack tried to stay true to the book but he can only do so much. Some things only work on printed matter and on another media is a whole story altogether, but i'd say he done right by fan boys or at least by me.

Its grim and dark, an alternate futuristic reality of the 1980's...watchmen is about what if superheroes really existed, caped vigilantes, masked crusaders, heroes and villains or what have you. How it would affect the sociology, politics, economy, science and technology, every aspect of human life. If you could change the world how would u shape it to be and what price would u pay?

Its not your average superhero movie...dont expect coming in u get to see famous playboy billionaire by day, crime fighter by night or parttime photographer/friendly neighbourhood caped crusader. U get flawed superheroes from this one. Broken, battered, sociopathic the works. They cross so many morally grey areas they cant differentiate which one is black or white.

Take away all of the shit, and u find at the core its basically is a whodunit with problematic heroes thrown in for a lil flavor. I loved the movie and i cant wait to get the DVD version of it. An extra 30-40 minutes, under the hood, the tales of the black frieghter (a story within a story). Now excuse me while i find the copy of watchmen and tick off the checklist whats in the movie and what wasnt ;)....
